Makaroni: drugi pokušaj (Macarons: second shot)

Sjećate se mojih prvih makarončića? Izgledali su gotovo savršeno: uzdignuto stopalce, glatka površina, lijepa boja bez zagorenih dijelova… Cjelokupan dojam mi nije baš bio toliko dobar koliko se od makarona očekuje, ali to sam pripisala punjenju kojem nisam pridala ni previše vremena ni pažnje, da ne kažem da sam “namrljala” nešto po njima te da ih nisam pustila da odstoje kako bi omekšali i stopili se s kremom.


Reminiscences of ParisTako ohrabrena, krenula sam u napad na sljedeću turu :) Uzela sam Stellin recept s BraveTart-a, recept žene koja me svojim ležernim postovima ohrabrila i nagovorila da se uopće upustim u priču s makaronima. AHEM :) Ikad čuli za početničku sreću? :)

cracked-shells Makarončići su u pećnici ispucali, ispali poprilično šupljikavi, a polovica ih uopće nije dobila stopalce :(. Bila sam na rubu da sve tri ture bacim izravno u smeće,  jer su mi bili toliko neatraktivni da mi ih se nije ni jelo. Ipak odlučila sam ih napuniti što je moguće više tekućim čokoladnim ganacheom i pustiti neka stoje zatvoreni u frižideru…

Drugi dan navečer uzela sam kutiju, sjela pored supruga na kauč i pitala ga “Jesi za jedan disaster-cookie”? Uzeli smo svatko po jedan… Očekujući žvakasti, tvrdi oklopić i kremu koja će stisnuta njime iscuriti sa svih strana po rukama, majici i prekrivaču, zagrizla sam brzo. No umjesto toga, zubi su mi se spojili u milisekundi bez trunke otpora ostavljajući me zbunjenom. Nebo :) Mekani, vlažni, prhki oblačići :)) Nismo se zaustavljali :) Pravi pravcati makaroni, onakvi kakvi trebaju biti :) Okusom barem :) OBLAČIĆI!

makaronJe li me prepalo ovo iskustvo? Ne :) Ne odustajem! Ali nije da ne odustajem od savršenih makarona. Ne odustajem od zabave! :) Oboružala sam se alatima i sastojcima, i krećem u nove pobjedkušaje :)

Remember my first Macarons? They looked great: perfect foot, smooth top, nice color. They were not that tasty though, and the texture wasn’t just right as I would expect for a good Macaron, but I blamed the filling which wasn’t all that spectacular. And the fact that I didn’t put them to mature and absorb the moist from the filling.

makaroni2Encouraged by my first “successful” attempt, I couldn’t wait to bake them again and to “rule” again :) I printed the recipe from Stella’s BraveTart, the blog that encouraged me to even start the Macaron adventure. AHEM :) Ever heard of Beginner’s luck? :)

My Macarons turned out cracked, pretty hallow, and a half of them were without feet :( I was about to throw away all of the three batches because they looked so unattractive, I didn’t feel like eating them ever :) However, at the last minute I decided to fill them with chocolate ganache and leave them in an airtight container in the fridge to mature.

Next evening I took the box out of the fridge, sat next to my husband on the couch and asked him “Would you like some disaster cookies?” Each of us took one cookie from the box… I was expecting to bite in a chewy hard shells squeezing out the cream, making the mess pouring onto my hands, shirt, blanket. But instead, my teeth practically flew through the cookie… It was like heaven… Crispy on the outside, incredibly soft on the inside, so tender, so moist. It was like I was putting little clouds in the mouth :) Fine, real Macarons, well, they at least tasted like real Macarons :))

Did this experience scare me? No :) I’m not quitting yet :) It’s not that I’m not giving up on the perfect Macarons. I’m not giving up on the fun! I armed myself with some extra tools and I’m just waiting for the next time :)
